Maple School Ravine

Location: South Seattle Address: Graham S. and S. 21st St. Acreage: 3.0 I had sworn off writing about ravines and greenspaces early in this project when I came across so many parks that were inaccessible to visitors, so I wasn’t planning to cover Maple School Ravine. But, I happened to stumble across a staircase that… Continue reading Maple School Ravine

Cleveland Playfield

Address: S. Lucile St. and 13th Ave. S. Acreage: 2.65 In the shadow of the beautiful Cleveland High School, it’s disappointing to find Cleveland Playfield is a little run-down. Although it’s a great place to set off on your kayak, it’s also a scenic picnic spot with picnic tables and a pleasant gently sloped lawn.… Continue reading Ferdinand Street Boat Launch

Lakewood Moorage

Location: South Seattle Address: 4400 Lake Washington Blvd. S.  Acreage: approx. 1.0 If you’ve walked along Lake Washington Boulevard, you’ve probably passed Lakewood Moorage thinking it’s a private dock. It’s actually officially city property, although slips are rented through a private company, and public access is limited to certain hours and days of the week.… Continue reading Lakewood Moorage
