Address: 5400 Fauntleroy Way S.W.
Acreage: 5.3

Often overlooked by drivers speeding along on busy Fauntleroy Way, Fairmount Playground is a great park that seems to be hiding in plain sight.

Despite two very nice (and one recently renovated) playgrounds, the park is never as busy as other West Seattle playgrounds. The kids I observed on a cold, but sunny Sunday loved having so much space to play without having to wait to take a turn on the slide. Don’t miss the ferry boat that is a hit with littler ones.

A couple of dog owners took advantage of the large soccer and softball fields that were quiet during my visit. These fields become a busy scene when the youth soccer season is in full swing.

The currently empty Fairmount Elementary School that sits adjacent makes this park feel a little run-down. This is unfortunate, as the park itself is well-maintained and has plenty of great features worth checking out.
