How many cities have urban parks specifically designed for extreme mountain biking? Check out I-5 Colonnade Park, and you’ll be pleased to see how well Seattle builds parks to meet the diverse interests of its residents.

The first phase of this interesting park, which is located under I-5 between the Eastlake and Capitol Hill neighborhoods, opened in 2005 thanks to Pro Parks funds. It has since been expanded beyond the initial mountain bike trails to include an off-leash dog park, as well as walking and bike commuter trails.

This park is such a great example of what a city can do with some really unused public spaces.
