It’s rumored that there’s a baby boom in West Seattle and from the amount of use Ercolini Park gets, I would not be surprised if this is true. This park, completed in 2008 with Pro Parks funds, is definitely geared toward kiddos, and I have yet to see it empty.

In addition to a large grass lawn and a short looping path, the park’s features include a large playground and sand play area. This is a nice park for stroller and wheelchair users, as it is flat and has no obstacles. There are also plenty of benches and a couple of picnic tables.

The plot has some historical significance to longtime West Seattle residents. It used to be the site of Joe and Julia Ercolini’s garden. For several decades starting in the 1930s, people would show up at their garden and buy produce that the Ercolinis would pick for them on the spot. How’s that for a true farmer’s market?

It’s wonderful to see that a historical piece of land is getting so much use as a park named in their honor.
