The Eastlake neighborhood has many pocket waterfront parks. Terry Pettus Park is one of these and although it’s a small park, it provides its neighborhood with some nice amenities.
In addition to great views of Lake Union, this is a good park for fishing and launching small boats such as kayaks. If you’re interested in houseboats, this is a good place to get a peek at them.
Speaking of houseboats, the park is named after a Seattle activist who fought to save the city’s houseboat communities. According to Historylink, he created the Lake Union Houseboat Owners Association and helped address pollution issues in Lake Union.
Imagine… houseboats on Lake Union used to not have any sewer line, and they were hardly even the worst polluters! Today you can enjoy a cleaner lake and a nice park in Terry’s honor.
