West Seattle has a lot of nice parks, many with views and access to the waterfront, but until last summer it didn’t have a park in the heart of the “Junction.” And the “Junction” is very important to the West Seattlelites.

So, they put their heads and resources together and turned an empty lot into a small, but carefully designed park. The cozy, accessible space will host neighborhood events like the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and West Seattle Street Fair. At the park’s inaugural Tree Lighting last year, the emcee acknowledged that the Christmas Tree is still a little on the skimpy side at less than 15 feet.

But, this community is looking forward to many future Tree Lightings as the tree grows into a neighborhood landmark.
