Acreage: 3.5

Throughout Seattle, nearly every neighborhood has a monstrous above-ground water reservoir. A cool development by the Parks Department is the trend of moving these reservoirs underground, and thereby opening up large spaces as usable park space.

West Seattle just gained such a park at Myrtle Reservoir Park.

I visited on a cold, but sunny day when a dusting of snow was still on the ground. The cold windy conditions made for a short visit, but the park looked beautiful and the view of downtown Seattle was lovely.

Some parts of the park are still under construction and the newly planted areas are fragile, but you can enjoy the walking paths, benches and great kids play area. This park is also a potential future site for a skate park.

The two remaining water towers make this park easy to spot and remind us that five million gallons of water are just underfoot.
