Location: Central Seattle/Montlake
Address: 2802 East Park Dr. E.
Acreage: 7.1

After visiting West Montlake Park, I had to cross Mountlake Boulevard to see what its brother on the east side looked like. I didn’t think anything could beat the westerly views, but I was wrong.

Standing on the wooden viewing platform at East Montlake Park is the best place to see the start of the Montlake Cut and where the narrow passageway opens up to become Lake Washington. This area is party central when the Huskies are playing at home and yachts from all over come to join the tailgating.

I was happy that my view today was a much more serene scene. The moon was out, the sun had just set and several boats of college crew racers were finishing up their workouts. Just as I turned to leave, a large flock of birds flew overhead.

If I’d had more time, I would have liked to continue my waterfront walk by taking the trail that connects East Montlake Park to the Arboretum.

Another day.
