Within walking distance of Salmon Bay Park in north Ballard is Loyal Heights Playground, a large park with great football and baseball fields. The upper section of the park holds a small playground and a community center. You can also play basketball on the half-court.
The Loyal Heights neighborhood is named for the daughter of a Seattle real estate developer. The park was set aside as public space in 1942.
