Cheasty Boulevard & Greenspace

Cheasty Boulevard & Greenspace

Location: South Seattle
Address: Cheasty Blvd. S and S Della St.
Acreage: 62.74

The city’s site lists these as two separate parks with different acreages, but the same address. I don’t see a distinction. Cars drive through about a mile of the park, the side is accessible through a narrow walking trail and the rest is a protected green space.

I’ve added the acreages together, so you can picture how large these parks are. Here’s a neat map to help you see how this greenspace was pieced together.

E. C. Cheasty was a member of the Parks Board in the early 1900s and helped bring the European-style boulevards to Seattle parks.

What’s cool is that Cheasty Boulevard is one of the dozen or so elegant Seattle boulevards that Olmsted himself designed. But, hardly anyone knows about this one. It’s a wonderful place to take a Sunday drive.
