There are plans in the works to fix up California Place, a triangle of a park on California Ave. in West Seattle. It currently only hosts a bus stop, grass and some nice trees.
A volunteer-led group is committed to putting in the sweat hours to slowly improve this park. One of the main goals is to install a “natural playscape,” such as large boulders for kids to climb on.
This gives kids a place to play, while appeasing some noisy neighbors who don’t want this park to become a playground. This issue has been quite the controversy in this West Seattle neighborhood.
