Ella Bailey Park

Ella Bailey Park

Location: Magnolia
Address: 2601 W. Smith St.
Acreage: 0.12

I’ve come across, undoubtedly, Seattle’s best playground with a view. I almost let go of the stroller as I came down Smith St. in Magnolia and caught sight of the Seattle skyline and Elliott Bay.

Ella Bailey Park is designed for kids with a great playground, swings and a flat open lawn. But, from looking at the parents kicked back in lawn chairs they brought with them, I’d say this is a park everyone enjoys.

Schoolteacher Ella Bailey sold the land in the 1920s to the city to be used as a park. It was more recently used as a playground for a nearby elementary school. In 2007 a major renovation was completed opening it up to a wide range of uses.

In addition to the playground, you’ll find basketball courts, barbecues, picnic tables and walls that encourage skateboarding. Yes, this park actually encourages skateboarding. And, it has great accessibility. Definitely something for everyone.
