Julia Lee's Park

Julia Lee’s Park

Location: Central District/Madison Valley
Address: E. Harrison and Martin Luther King Jr. Way
Acreage: 0.16

The hot days may be behind us for this year, but come next summer I will be keeping this corner park in mind for a cool, relaxing place to unwind.

Julia Lee’s Park, at the edge of the Madison Valley, provides fantastic shade on hot summer days with dozens of deciduous trees providing almost total shade for the many wooden benches. In winter when the leaves are gone, the openings in the sky will be nice to take advantage of winter sunny days.

The park’s careful design resembles a European-style park with a fenced enclosure, paved accessible access, tidy rows of plants and trees and lots of bench seating.

Julia Lee Knudsen was an area resident and supporter of the arts. Her family created the private park open to the public in 1993 in her honor, and it was donated to the parks department this year.
