Summit Park is tucked deep into the Issaquah Highlands community high up on the plateau. So why would I recommend the winding trip up there?
The answer is two of the steepest, most exciting slides I’ve seen on a playground. You have to explore a little to find the slides, which are partially obscured by bushes. You’ll reach the top by climbing a small hill. The views from the top make it worth the trek for parents, too. The fast, curving ride to the bottom on these plastic slides is a thrill.
The rest of the park is fun, too. Older kids will like the Kompan play equipment. Large boulders line a short paved path that crosses the park, where you’ll find a checkers board and chess board built into the pavement. A large lawn is a nice picnic spot.
While you’re up here, the Issaquah Highlands community has 21 other parks, many with playgrounds and walking trails.
