Roughly halfway between Madrona and Madison Park, take a turn off of Lake Washington Boulevard onto what looks like a short dead-end street and you’re in for a great surprise.
This hidden waterfront park has no easy access (and unfortunately is not wheelchair- or stroller-friendly). But, follow the little trail and you’ll land on a flat lawn right on the waterfront of Lake Washington surrounded by multimillion-dollar homes.
It was nearly empty except for one clothed sunbather on the sunny weekday that I visited. Rumor is you may sometimes find Howell Park dotted with clothing-optional sunbathers, so be warned. But, this is not a park to miss.

The map link for this park shows it in the middle of the city, not on Lake Washington. Is this right?

This park is also a thirty second walk from Kurt Cobains last residence at 171 lake washington boulevard. He would have undoubtedly spent some time in this park. When I went I was the only one there…so if it’s your thing…you can spend some time basking in his solitary footsteps.
